24/06/2017Current students activites Visit to "The Old Tai Po Police Station" and "Railway Museum" Historical
Visit Date: 24 June 2017 The Old Tai Po Police Station in Hong Kong is a Grade 1 historic building, built in 1899. In 2010, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) was selected by the Development Bureau to transform the heritage site into a "Green Hub for Sustainable Living” under Batch II of the "Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme" (Revitalisation Scheme). The aim of the Green Hub project is to transform the Old Tai Po Police Station into an influential landmark for Hong Kong and the region to promote sustainable living and integrated conservation by: a) adopting an integrated approach to conserve the historic and architectural values, the heritage trees, and the egretry of ecological importance; b) serving as a centre for developing, teaching and promoting simple, affordable and meaningful initiatives for ecologically-responsible and low-carbon living; and c) promoting a range of training and educational programmes to help people understand and tackle the most pressing ecological and social concerns of modern life. We will also visit the Hong Kong Railway Museum where is situated in the town center of Tai Po Market, the Hong Kong Railway Museum is an open-air museum occupying some 6,500 square meters converted from the old Tai Po Market Railway Station. Erected in 1913, the station building features the pitched roof of traditional Chinese building. It was declared a monument in 1984, refurbished and opened as a museum in 1985. Date:9 September 2017 Time: 14:00-16:00 The PMA / Project sharing session will be presented by alumni who freshly graduated with remarkable results. The speakers will share their hands-on experience with current students in some important areas: • Preparation • Basic requirements • Common mistakes • How to get high marks Charge: Free of Charge Language: English After the presentation of both PMA and Project sharing, a Q&A session will be arranged for further queries or inquiries. The sharing session is particularly important to the newly intake students who can be benefited a lot from those practical experiences. The event is free of charge, but, the students have to register as the Associate of our Alumni Association first and relevant fee is exempted for students. Every year Alumni like to visit our respectful retired Prof. Lee's home in Chinese New Year. Prof. Lee will be kind enough to prepare some festive foods and Lai See for alumni. We will also go to restaurant to enjoy the dim sum together after visit.
