Buddy Program Orientation
Buddy Program Orientation

About 100 students joined the Buddy Program orientation on 2nd November 2013. 16 big buddies joined to meet their buddies. And buddies gave a big show including singing, dancing, drama and games. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you all for your centripetal force towards the Buddy Program.

Urban hiking
Urban hiking

We went for urban hiking twice this year, on 28 April and 27 October respectively. Both choosen routes were easily accessible from urban area on Hong Kong island. Good for beginners and refreshing are a week's hard work.

On 27th September 2013, over 50 participants of IGDS students attended the DO's & DON'Ts Workshop. Thomas Chiu, Gavin Luk and Catherine Chang shared what employee should do and what should not do from MNC perspective, SME perspective and experienced internship employee perspective separately.

28th, June Huizhou Cosmetic Factory Visit

10 of our IGDS members join the Cosmetic Factory Visit event in Huizhou, China organized by Hong Kong Cosmetic Technical Resources Centre on 28 June 2013. The factory is one of the factories that has implemented Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP standard), which only less than 5% has implemented. This visit shown visitors how challenging it is to run a total servicing, a total marketing and a total quality business.

Visit to Super Terminal 1 of Hactl
Visit to Super Terminal 1 of Hactl

Total 19 participants attended the visit to Super Terminal 1 of Hactl on 31 May 2013.  We walked different sections in the Terminal.  The Super Auto Storage Center is the largest automatic storage and distribution center in the world, it is impressing.  Thank you so much to Lawrence, our ExCo member who organized this event.

IGDS 20th Anniversary Dinner
IGDS 20th Anniversary Dinner

We marked a record high attendance of 240 alumni, guests and students at the 20th Anniversary Dinner of IGDS held on 15 December 2012 at Police Officers' Club in Causeway Bay. The participation and enthausim of current full time students was encouraging. They helped in the preparation of venue setup and prizes, most of all, they put up five performances including singing, Erhu and Jazz. The energetic Gangnan style group dancing brought the atmosphere to climax with encore joined by Dr WK Lo, Prof Judy Tsui, Prof HC Man, newly elected President Gavin Luk and Tenneil Lai from IGDS office. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you all for your centripetal force towards the alumni association.

Visit to Ocean Park
Visit to Ocean Park

Response to technical visit to Ocean Park was overwhelming and online registration was full next day when it was announced. Total 26 participants attended the visit co-organized by MILESAA and IGDSAA. A brief introduction on the Life Support System (LSS) of the Grand Aquarium was presented by Mr. Abraham Wong, Senior Life Support System Manager. The volume of main tank (T20) of Aquarium is 5,000m3 (about 2 times standard swimming pool), the LSS is divided by two loops – skimmer and bottom and other jewel tanks. The LSS equipment include circulation pump, sand filter and foam fractionators, UV sterilizer, temperature control device and real time control and monitoring system to keep the water crystal clear. After visit to Grand Aquarium, we took the Ocean Express train to the Summit area where the operation and maintenance of 3 amusement ride – The Hair Raiser, The Flash and Ocean Park Tower was explained by Mr. Willie Choy of Rides Maintenance Department.
