| Visit to Dongfeng Nissan Huadu Plant |

After about 2.5hr dirve and lunch, 30 participants arrived Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co. in Huadu District of Guangzhou.
The plant covers an area of 1,075,000 sq.m. including Press shop, Body shop, Coating shop, Resin shop, Final Assembly line, engine shop, test track and a R&D centre. The production capacity is 270,000 cars a year.
We have a tour through the various workshops and were astonished by the vast number of different components that needed to be assembled to form a vehicle.

| Hongkong-Shenzhen Western Corridor Walk for a Million |

The IGDS Alumni has organized a team of 78 persons consisting of alumni and their families & friends to participate in the Hong Kong - Shenzhen Western Corridor Walk for Million on 15 April 2007.
We have raised total HK$43,110 for The Community Chest to support the "Children & Youth Services" to help the younger generation develop a positive value and cultivate their sense of social belongings.
Our team was allocated starting time at 12:00 noon. Although the weather is a bit hazzy, all participants completeled the journey cheerfully with some sweating. Some alumni and friends went for a late lunch / early dinner at Lau Fau Shan after the Walk.

On 17 March 2007,total 29 alumni gathered at the Disclipined Services Sports & Recreation Club in So Kong Po for a small cosy spring dinner. We have invited Eddie Hui, graduate of 1998, to share with us his experience on his route from an IT service engineer to a sales & management trainer.

We had the honour to have invited Prof. Lord S.K. Bhattacharyya (Director of Warwick Manufacturing Group) to share with us our magnificent moment.
Over 160 alumni and guests enjoyed the fabulous performances: Dr. W.K. Lo playing Gu Qin, and a new attempt of playing Christmas songs by Chinese musical instruments. Certainly, there were also numerous exciting games and plentiful prizes.

| Introduction to Six Sigma Breakthrough |

The Introduction to Six-Sigma Breakthrough seminar was another full house function on 29 July 2006.
There were over 100 attendees, including members and VIPs from the organizing bodies and the manufacturing & engineering industries. The seminar started with an Introduction & Theory of Six Sigma presented by Mr Daniel Yu, President & Founding Member of SSS. It was then followed by the Application & Experience Sharing of Six Sigma in the Context of Manufacturing Industry delivered by Mr Richard Tse, Vice Chairman of IET-HK MIES. Detail discussion concentrated on a Six-Sigma project performed in The Avery Dennison.
After the break Mr Jason Kong & Mr Edgar Luk shared with us the Grand Award winning project of CLP Power in the 1st Hong Kong Six Sigma Convention 2005. It covered the improved coal pulverizer availability by application of six sigma DMAIC approach.

| One day study mission to China - Eva Group & Chen Hsong Industrial Park |

On 24 June 2006, over 50 IGDS alumni enjoyed a fruitful day in China. The first factory visit was EVA group in Shenzhen. After a brief introduction in the conference room, a tour around various departments and production lines was conducted. Participants had a deeper understanding on the manufacturing of office equipment parts.
In the afternoon, participants visited Chen Hsong industrial park at Shenzhen. During which, the manufacturing and testing of various types of injection moulding machines were introduced.
Two seminars were held after the factory visit. Mr. Peter Chiu presented the ERP system called I-Chen, which was developed by Chen Hsong. The system focused on solving shop floor production problems.
